Community Survival Center
NEPM was recently recognized for donating over 422 pounds of desperately needed food items to the Community Survival Center in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts in 2008. The Community Survival Center seeks donations of food, clothing and household items from residents of Ludlow, Wilbraham and Springfield, to give to less fortunate neighbors of all ages. To low-income children, the Center provides a free breakfast and lunch program. To qualifying families, the Center supplies five days of nutritious meals that are bagged and distributed each week. Periodically, senior citizens and others of limited means are invited to stop by the storefront office to get household goods and much needed food. Over 9,000 men, women and children were helped in 2008 through the Community Survival Center's food programs and 37,393 individuals received clothing and/or household items. An additional 12,930 purchases were made of donated items in the Bridge of Hope Thrift Shop, where all proceeds support the center.
Every Friday, NEPM supports a policy of “dressing down” in return for the donation of a non-perishable and/or toiletry item, clothing or household goods for the Community Survival Center. NEPM has donated clothing, household goods and food periodically to the Community Survival Center for the last five years.
